This painting is an analogous painting using warm colors such as red, orange and yellow. First I did the under painting and decided what colors will really make the fruit pop out. Finally, to make the branches appear closer I highlighted the branches closer and made the branches further behind darker. I also glaze the background with yellow.
My Blog will follow my progress on painting throughout the semester. It will focus on the usage of color, different techniques and brush strokes. You will see basic problems and still life paintings. It will show the various step taken, to resolve the problem in front of me.

First, I did an under painting, just to get the composition on the support Next, I started to focus on lights and darks to show contrast in the bottle and fabric. Finally, I used highkey reds to create the folds in the fabric. I also glazed the bottle to give it its translucent appearance.

Frank Morrison is A self-taught artist, he began his career as a pre-adolescent graffiti artist.  As a member of a break-dancing crew, while touring Europe, he visited the Louvre museum in Paris and was inspired to choose painting as a career. His work is steeped in old world values of family, community and religion though typically rendered with mirth and high-spiritedness.  I just love this image/painting. The generation of mother and daughter, the empowerment really warms my heart.

First, I made a placeholder for my first sphere using vertical strokes. The second sphere I painted the same sphere, using a different technique. using smoother brush strokes.    Next, I glazed the 2nd sphere using red acrylic paint and water. And painted the background yellow for the purple lowkey sphere. Finally, I used violet acrylic paint on the background and yellow on bottom. And on the last sphere I used highkey hues to form an analogous sphere.

The artist I will be following is Frank Morrison. I am in love with his painting  black culture and really  involving jazz. The paintings have so much soul, movement and pride it makes me excited to be apart of the black culture. Frank Morrison was Born in Massachusetts then moved to New Jersey at an early age.He was extremely excited and curious about the world around him.  Then, as an energetic pre-teen, he was interested and enthused by the youthful trends, interests and activities which marked his world: the neighborhood D.J's with their followers and fans at neighborhood parties, the colorful ‘tags’ of local characters which were splashed across fences, parks and buildings, and the loose-jointed "B" boys and break-dancers who enlivened week-end party scenes. This inspired his art once he got older and was the start to his successful career as an artist.  The vibrant colors place on a subtle background makes the focus point pop.

The study of Color

Image
First I tinted to shade the different colors. Using the original color adding white to tint them and black to shade them. The 5th strip I used red and blue, 2 primary colors to mix and make the secondary color violent. The 6th strip was a mix of complimentary colors.  The 2nd part of the project was of a detailed color wheel.  Lastly, we finished off with a wide range of Bordering colors and different brush strokes applications.
