What is Degenerative Myelopathy? Degenerative myelopathy is a progressive disease of the spinal cord in older dogs. The disease has an insidious onset typically between 8 and 14 years of age. It begins with a loss of coordination (ataxia) in the hind limbs. The affected dog will wobble when walking, knuckle over or drag the feet. This can first occur in one hind limb and then affect the other. As the disease progresses, the limbs become weak and the dog begins to buckle and has difficulty standing. The weakness gets progressively worse until the dog is unable to walk. The clinical course can range from 6 months to 1 year before dogs become paraplegic. If signs progress for a longer period of time, loss of urinary and fecal continence may occur and eventually weakness will develop in the front limbs. Another key feature of DM is that it is not a painful disease.   What causes Degenerative Myelopathy?   Degenerative myelopathy begins with the spinal cord i...

Dog Wheelchair Final Project

Image
Dog Wheelchair Final Project -Reviewed literature   -Watched Competition   Assessment - Factors not addressed   Dogs lack of lateral stability Dogs lack of strength in the back legs Clients Physical needs Lack of stability of wheelchairs   -Purpose Solutions   The significant of our design is that we made it user friendly and much safer for the owner and also a lot more stable for Pugsley. For lateral Stability we Used stationary wheels for 2 back wheels and also me and my partner made a saddle that allows dog to sit and be comfortable whenever. For the client's needs we built back of wheelchair in form of a dolly. This has a handle for the owner to push the dog. This will help maximize joint protection when moving. Using a  1/8" plywood would strengthen PVC and make a stronger wheelchair.

Step 1. I started with a piece a Styrofoam I had from my laptop Step 2. I used green construction paper and a hot glue gun. I cut flaps in the construction paper. Step 3. I curled the flaps using my pencil to create texture. I then hot glued the flaps of construction paper to the Styrofoam. Step 4. I repeated step 3 until the whole rectangle was covered giving a subtle but interesting texture to the object  It also gave off a Christmas tree feel. The way it looks and feels

"Won Choi  constitute a one-person surrealist revival -- she work at the biomorphic vocabulary of Jean Arp and Wassily Kandinsky to arrive at medium-scale sculptures that puddle, drip and run, and even march, all for the sake of joyfully nightmarish visions in pristine white.Although her work may seem quite complicated, the spirit of the work is very simple, light and pleasant. There is nothing tortured or painful. They are lyrical and invite the viewers' imagination and participation."

Step 1. I created a module using different shades of old blue folders      1  Step 2. I then began playing around with the modules to see how they could fit together and create rhythm  Step 3. I then began cutting little slits in the triangle flaps modules and fitting them together. The bigger triangles were on one side and tickled down to the smaller ones.  Step 4. I then created a base using cardboard. I cut the cardboard in a rectangle so the form can fit on it. Step 5. Finally, I painted the base blue to tie it all together. I then hot glued the form on the base to secure it.

October 25th, 2016 I had the pleasure to go to a forum about gun violence, racism, and art. I got to meet Marlos Evans and a few more great artist. I thought the forum was amazing. I am an Urban Studies/ Community Develop major and an art minor. It lined up with everything I am trying to do in life, such as uniting the community to come together, clean up the urban community and use art to do so. It will allow the youth and citizens of the urban community take pride in their cities. I thought it was interesting that one of the artist was automatically blamed to be the problem when he was the actually the victim, trying to protect a female. I agree with Mr. McBride on the fact that we have been dealing with cops killings and racism. I get frustrated because my generation is all talk but not a bout action. That is why I have decided to actually go into a field that will help better the lives of Blacks and other minorities in America. I also have implemented the whole anger can be u...

Lacy Lewis - Inspiration

Image
I have followed this Kansas City, Mo artist since my senior year. My love for painting is real. But I am amazed by how Lacy Lewis uses oil paint. Her strokes are so smooth. This painting is called Approaching Storm Oil on Canvas on Dibond Panel 48" x 24"

First, I created a 11x11 box and cut out the front part so I can compose the void as I want. Next, I lined the inside of the box with white paper and then began composing the void of the box as I please. I used pink and red paper because I felt that they are the same color but different shades. It added depth to the void. Then, I created a hollow top for the 11X11 box to close it off. I lines the inside of the box with black paper. Finally, I closed the box off and cut small squares on each side of the box to allow light to come in.

Step 1. I made a plane and other forms using cardboard and tape. I had to measure all shapes to make the measurements were correct and equal. Step 2. I then cut into the form for each one to fit with in each other. I also connected all of the forms to create one form. Step 3. Finally, I used a navy blue to paint the form. I did 2-3 coats of paint to complete the final problem.

Studio Magic 816 New & Improve

Image
This blog will be about the journey of growing my art, both skilled based as well as professionally.  I have studied and practice art, on & off for about 10 years, both in high school and college. I received my bachelors degree in Urban Studies; Community Development and a minor in visual arts. When I first discovered my love for art I told myself I would only use it as a stress reliever and never pursue a job for art because it shouldn't be based off of money. Eight years later I had a new revelation. In March I had an injury that caused me to dislocate my shoulder. Because a pandemic plagued us only a few days later it delayed my surgery causing my elbow to lock up and losing all feeling in my right arm, from my shoulder to my fingertips for months. Between being injured and a pandemic I became depressed. Not being able to hold a pen, let a lone write your name was my breaking point. While sulking in my pain and depression I had an epiphany. I had been taking the gift God gav...
